What a Plumber Costs in Markham: Our Prices
If you want to know what a plumber costs in Markham before you call, these are our actual price ranges and what each one includes. Most plumbers will not print numbers; we do, because you should know the ballpark before anyone rings your doorbell, and you get the exact price in writing before work starts.
Open 24 hours, 7 days a week
Service call CONFIRM: e.g. $129 diagnostic visit, credited to the repair if you go ahead. Licensed plumber $120 to $160 an hour on weekdays. After-hours call-out CONFIRM: e.g. $249 after-hours call-out (evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays). Drain clearing from $195. Hot water tank installed from $1,500 (electric) and $1,900 (gas). Backwater valve $2,200 to $4,000 before the City rebate.
How our pricing works
Daytime rate. Weekday work is priced from the ranges below. Most jobs are quoted as a flat price after we see them, not an open-ended hourly bill.
After-hours. Evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays add a call-out of CONFIRM: e.g. $249 after-hours call-out (evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays). We tell you that on the phone before we leave. If it can safely wait until morning, we will say so.
In writing first. You approve the price before work starts. If we open a wall and find something different, we stop and talk to you before the price changes.
Last checked CONFIRM: month and year the prices were last checked, e.g. October 2026. We update these ranges when our costs change, and the date is right here.

placeholder imageWhat makes a job cost more
Finished basements and ceilings that have to be opened. Pipes inside walls instead of exposed. Tank-to-tankless conversions that need new venting or a bigger gas line. Sewer work under a driveway. Permits, where the job needs one. Night and weekend call-outs. We name every one of these in your written price, so nothing shows up for the first time on the invoice.
How to spot a bad quote
A price given over the phone for a job nobody has looked at, that then doubles on site. A "free" inspection that only ever finds a $10,000 problem. A water heater or softener sold door to door with a monthly rental attached. Pressure to sign today. Anyone saying they are from the City of Markham and selling flood protection by phone: the City says it does not do that.
Common questions
Why a range and not a fixed price?
Because access, distance, materials and what we find change the work. The range covers most Markham houses. We confirm your exact price in writing before starting, and if something unexpected comes up, we stop and tell you before the price changes.
Do the prices include HST?
No. All prices are before HST.
Do you charge for estimates?
CONFIRM: e.g. Free estimates on installs and replacements. Diagnosing a problem in person is a service call of CONFIRM: e.g. $129 diagnostic visit, credited to the repair if you go ahead.
How do I pay?
CONFIRM: e.g. Debit, credit, e-transfer.
What will the Markham rebate save me?
For eligible properties approved by the City before the work: up to $1,750 on an indoor backwater valve, up to $5,000 on weeping tile disconnection with a sump pump, up to $2,500 on lateral relining. See the rebate page for the steps.
